 Dear Subscriber,

Thank you for reading our newsletter and for being a great Dick Scott customer.  Summer has ended and fall is in full swing.  As the weather begins to get colder we tend to spend more time inside.  That is why we have put so much into this issue of the newsletter.  Just remember, when you're done reading this issue the fun doesn't stop.  Check out our blog or look us up on myspace.  We'll be happy to see you. For Now, Enjoy!
Employee Spotlight

Doug Harris, Parts Manager at Dick Scott Nissan

Doug Harris has been in the automotive industry for almost 30 years; he has been with Dick Scott for 7 of those years.  Currently he works as the Parts Manager at Dick Scott Nissan in Canton. Doug graduated from Plymouth Salem and lives in nearby Westland with his wife Cathy and their 3 daughters; Jessica, Karilyne and Allison. The Harris family has two cats, Norman and Jody.

According to Doug, his favorite part of his job is getting to know his customers. He enjoys many things outside of work, like spending time with his family and the Fried Grouper Sandwich at Charlie Horse Restaurant in Daytona Beach when he is on vacation. His favorite movie is Monty Python and the Holy Grail and his favorite book is "Chili Dogs only bark at Night" by Lewis Grizzard. Doug currently drives "any car that is at home and has gas in it" and his dream vehicle is "one that is paid for!"

Doug is our Spotlight Employee for October because of his hard work and dedication over the years. His wonderful sense of humor combined with his knowledge and experience in taking care of customer's vehicles is very much appreciated. Whenever you are in need of a part, you definitely need to call Doug! Thanks, Doug for all that you do; you are an important member of the Dick Scott "Best Shot" Team!

Participants will, in turn, present them at any Dick Scott Dealership location when they purchase/lease a new or pre-owned vehicle. At the end of each month, your organization will receive $100 for every voucher redeemed! Any costs associated with designing the artwork for your organization and printing the donation vouchers is absorbed by Dick Scott.

Tire Safety
Protection against avoidable breakdowns and crashes. Improved vehicle handling. Better fuel economy. Increased tire life. Just a few of the reasons to take five minutes every month to check your tires. Simply use the handy check list below.

Safety Checklist:
  1. Check tire pressure regularly (at least once a month), including the spare
  2. Inspect tires for uneven wear patterns on the tread, cracks, foreign objects, or other signs of wear or trauma. Remove bits of glass and other foreign objects
  3. Make sure your tire values have valve caps
  4. Check tire pressure before going on a long trip
  5. Do not overload your vehicle. Check the tire information placard or owner's manual for the maximum recommended load for the vehicle
  6. If you are towing a trailer, remember that some of the weight of the loaded trailer is transferred to the towing vehicle.
Safety Tips:
  1. Slow down if you have to go over a pothole or other object in the road.
  2. Do not run over curbs, and try not to strike the curb when parking.
